hi hello,
The sun set at 4 PM this week, MSCHF’s latest drop is going to be a half-pounder Fruit Loop, and the internet is still talking about the clown car known as Twitter.
Substack likes to send me a weekly reminder of what the “best practices” are, but surrendering to the unpredictable whims of time gives this newsletter the potential to be many things: timely, delayed 🦭, reflective, much too personal, or not enough. My detachment from creating this newsletter for external validation helps take the pressure off, so I can enjoy it 🙂 wholeheartedly. It’s also (I like to think) occasionally filling your time in a positive way.
Anyway, I have so much to share with you. I skipped a few newsletters because I was tired. It feels much better to lay on the couch after work with illay by my side than to force something out. I will make it up though, and hopefully not in an annoying way !

A bit too long of a read (almost 8,000 words), Peter Kiefer wrote about the serial untruthful way of living of ex-Grey's Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch. While I don’t hold Hollywood to any standards, this is… pure lunacy.
“I Am Happy because Everyone Loves Me” Louis Wein, 1928
Louis Wein has been circulating around the interweb, and he is someone I hold close to my heart. Known for his anthropomorphized large-eyed cats and kittens, his illustrations often poke fun at Edwardian trends – playing golf, being mothers, drinking tea, smoking cigarettes, and going to the opera.
The piece above is one of my favorites. Drawn quickly in chalk and ink, It was released through a fundraiser run by his family and friends after they found out he was admitted into institutional care. Despite his popularity, Wain had a tragic life suffering financial and mental difficulties. While he was exploited, angry, modest, naive, and ill-equipped for bargaining in the art world - He remained responsible for supporting his family and had terrible business sense.
Call it Catholic guilt- I still feel bad when I have ‘leisure time’ to sew, bake, or play video games. This is could be due to existing on the internet where an experience is simplified to a thumb-tap ❤️, but the blame should most likely be placed onto my career as a Graphic Designer where I assume I should market and capitalize on all I create. Luckily, fun reads like this exist to help keep the time slow, the ego humble and unhustle the hobbies.
One of my favorite newsletters that make the world a little less shit asked and answered some valid questions about why the body positivity movement is a failure and whether is there really a way to eradicate ‘ugliness’?
Black Friday is over but holiday end-of-season sales continue so I’m here to remind you that fast fashion is speeding up and Vegan leather is no bueno for the planet, as it’s made from PVC and poly-urethane (plastic 🪣) and stays on Earth forever. The best thing to do is buy Secondhand leather- it already exists, requires much less water to create (which does end up going back into the oceans), and ~generally will last longer during its lifetime of wear.
Just like the term organic 🌿, sustainability is now a marketing buzzword. The onus is on us to check the fine print and educate ourselves on the nuances in order to prevent greenwashing. The devil is in the details 😉
Lately, I’ve been listening to Bo Khat Eternal Troof Family band. Yet another alias of Roy Nnawuchi (or Dean Blunt). 🎷🦢🎶
Right, well that’s all for now! Until next time 👹
If you enjoyed this newsletter, why not share it?
